Discover Forrest's Pizza

If you ever find yourself cruising through downtown Silver City and craving a slice that actually hits the spot, Forrest's Pizza at 601 N Bullard St J, Silver City, NM 88061, United States, is the kind of place locals casually recommend with a nod and a smile. I stopped in on a late Friday afternoon during a road trip through Grant County, expecting a quick bite. What I got instead was one of those meals that quietly becomes the highlight of your day.

The first thing you notice is the relaxed diner-style vibe. It’s unpretentious, welcoming, and smells exactly how a good pizza place should-warm dough, bubbling cheese, and that slightly smoky aroma from a well-used oven. I’ve visited plenty of independent pizzerias across New Mexico, and the difference usually comes down to technique. Here, the crust isn’t an afterthought. It’s hand-tossed, proofed properly, and baked until the bottom develops that light golden crisp while staying soft inside. According to the National Restaurant Association, texture is one of the top factors influencing repeat visits in pizza restaurants, and after tasting their crust, that statistic makes perfect sense.

The menu covers the classics-pepperoni, sausage, veggie-but what stood out to me was how balanced everything tasted. On my first visit, I ordered a traditional pepperoni pizza and a side salad. The sauce had that bright tomato acidity without being overpowering. It tasted fresh, not overly sweet or heavy. I later learned from chatting with the staff that they prep their sauce in-house, using a consistent seasoning process rather than relying on pre-made blends. That attention to detail matters. Food scientists often point out that consistent seasoning layers-salt, acid, fat, and heat-create a more satisfying flavor profile, and you can taste that balance here.

What really impressed me, though, was their specialty pizza lineup. A friend who lives nearby recommended one of their combination pies loaded with vegetables, Italian sausage, and olives. The toppings were generous but not piled on so heavily that the crust went soggy. That balance shows experience in portion control and baking timing. It’s a small operational detail, but it makes a huge difference in quality. I’ve seen other diners struggle when toppings overwhelm the base, yet Forrest's Pizza clearly understands oven management and ingredient ratios.

Beyond pizza, the menu also includes sandwiches, pasta options, and appetizers, making it more than just a quick slice spot. Families were sharing large pies at one table while a couple nearby split a calzone and soda. The variety makes it easy to accommodate different tastes, which is likely why the restaurant consistently receives positive reviews from both locals and visitors.

Location also plays a role. Being right on Bullard Street places it within walking distance of downtown shops and galleries. After exploring Silver City’s historic district, it’s a convenient stop for lunch or dinner. Parking is simple, and the staff moves efficiently even during busier hours. During my second visit, I noticed how they handled a rush: orders were called clearly, tables were cleaned quickly, and takeout boxes were stacked neatly for pickup. Smooth workflow in a small restaurant usually reflects solid management practices.

Of course, like any independent restaurant, wait times can stretch slightly during peak hours. When I visited on a Saturday evening, there was about a 15-minute delay on large orders. Still, the staff communicated clearly, and the food arrived hot and fresh. Transparency like that builds trust.

If you care about quality ingredients, proper baking technique, and a laid-back atmosphere where the menu delivers exactly what it promises, this spot deserves a visit. From crust texture to sauce consistency and friendly service, everything feels thoughtfully done rather than rushed. In a town filled with charming local businesses, Forrest's Pizza stands out as one of those reliable, satisfying stops you’ll likely return to without hesitation.

  • July 2025: Still the best pizza in town...not the cheapest by far, but very high quality! Try the Tombstone! Summer 2024: Best pizza in Silver City! Yes, their prices have gone up more than once during the time we've been eating Forrest's. For a minute it felt too expensive, but the pizza however is almost always perfectly on point with thin crust and fresh, delicious toppings. The Kim's Favorite (alfredo sauce, spinach, artichoke hearts, and fresh garlic) is our...favorite! FYI no indoor seating. Local love.

  • Stopped by to grab a pizza on the way home after a long day. Grabbed a large pepperoni and ricotta with a house salad. Absolutely amazing. Perfect chewy/crispy thin crust, bright tomato flavor, savory pepperoni and no shortage of creamy ricotta. This pizza is a must try. Don't be intimidated by it's size, leftovers reheat amazingly. Worth every penny!

  • After the drive from Gila National Monument, I was hungry so I stopped at Silver City before heading back to El Paso. Came across this pizza place and ordered the Hawaiian pizza since I’m from Hawaii and want to try the pizza that matches where I came from . No disappoint it taste very good. Didn’t mind the wait because a lot of people were ordering and waiting so I know this place is gonna be good. Shoutout to my hiking friend who recommend me this spot to eat at.
